November 2010: Pantropical Capacity Building Workshop Journal - Indonesia

As part of the Woods Hole Research Center’s capacity building initiatives, Assistant Scientists Alessandro Baccini and Wayne Walker, Research Assistant Danielle Knight, Intern Max Nepstad, and collaborator Ned Horning, of the American Museum of Natural History, led a workshop entitled Methods for Biomass Estimation and Forest-Cover Mapping in the Tropics, a training workshop on forest monitoring for Southeast Asian countries, from November 8-12, at the University of Mulawarman in Samarinda, Indonesia.

November 2010: Updates from the WHRC Field Expedition to the Congo Basin

Assistant Scientist John Poulsen, Research Associate Greg Fiske, and Postdoctoral Fellow Paul Mann spent nearly a month on a research trip throughout the Congo Basin. They traveled nearly 1500 kilometers, sampling water quality in rivers and streams throughout the region as part of the Global Rivers initiatives.
