Recreational AreasProtected lands have recreational uses that are important not only to residents but also to summer visitors and tourists who are attracted to Cape Cod as a vacation destination largely on the basis of its abundant recreational resources. Protected lands used for recreation may be divided into different categories including "active" recreation (e.g. golf) and "passive" recreation (bird watching, jogging, bicycling, exercising pets, and hiking). Other categories would include facility-based recreation, water and/or marine recreation and spectator recreation (baseball, etc.). The map below shows protected open space and recreation lands for all Cape.
