Time series photographsin Falmouth, Mass., 1943 - 2001This series of aerial photographs shows changes experienced in the Acapesket region of Falmouth between Great Pond (left) and Green Pond (right), between the years of 1943 and 2001. In the first photo, the dominant land cover is agricultural and forest. Within twelve years, the first subdivision has appeared, and subsequent years show an ever-increasing number of roads and homes.
AcknowledgmentsWe thank the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) at the Massachusetts Military Reservation for providing the aerial photos, 1943 - 1991. The 2001 photo was provided by Mass. CZM. |
