The Teama team with a global vision
The architectural firm of William McDonough + Partners is building an impressive legacy of environmentally-oriented buildings, from the Environmental Defense Fund Headquarters of 1985 to recent commercial buildings for Gap, Inc., Nike, and Herman Miller. The Adam Joseph Lewis Center, home of the Environmental Studies department at Oberlin College, will make its own energy and clean its own wastewater. The Oberlin project, under the leadership of noted environmental educator David Orr, has inspired the Woods Hole Research Center to take the next step in the direction of fully sustainable design. Dr. Orr, an advocate of ecological literacy, believes buildings have the capacity to change the way people think about the environment. The Woods Hole Research Center aspires to build on such a foundation. The design team assembled for this project includes some of the best designers in their respective fields. The team meets regularly with the Woods Hole Research Center and has developed the project with the involvement of everyone in the institution. Key members of the William McDonough + Partners design team include:
In addition, the project team is grateful to the Cape Cod Commission, Barnstable County, and the Town of Falmouth for guidance in addressing local design concerns. |
